Planned schedule WC 2010
Is it true that Naviga, in Norway 2006, decided alteration between O/H and V for first/second week?
If so -V should go first since O/H had the first week in Italy 2008.

As the Swedish V chairman I have a couple of comments and questions:-
1. No scheduled practice days directly before the V class race days, sure you can practice a week before and then sit and twiddle your thumbs for 7 days. OK this is before the opening ceremony but why give the option to O and H and not to V?
2. The idea of dividing the WC was the desire to reduce the time necessary for competitors to be in place, how does this schedule fulfill that desire if competitors wish to practice on the race water.
3. All discussion I have heard since the meeting in Norway 2006 (I was not present and can only go by hearsay) has been that the classes would alternate between who went first as you state. Reasons amongst others - attendance at prizegiving ceremony, first/last choice of camping spots. The official record of the meeting however makes no mention of this so it would appear to be up to the host nation.

At the meeting in Norway the question which classes would be first was asked by Luxembourg

Quote. "Luxemburg - What class is going to be 1st ?
Section - Will be discussed with the country organising."

As you can see from the reply, nothing definite was decided, it seems it is up to the organising country to decide which way round they want to run the competition.

50% up ehh? They (hungarians) learned fast...
Well, Frank, you refused to revisit the WC already when EC ended due to the parking price for your trailer.
Going anyway? I'm now Q, so I'll probably be there (if my family allows it...).

Be interesting to see what the camping cost will be for the WC. This year for the EC a caravan/car/2 adults/electric was 4400 HUF per day, about 17 euro, I hope I'm wrong but somehow I feel the Spa will have realised for the WC's they have a captive audience and will charge accordingly.

Frank, so you are going to the WC's. You should remember the saying. "Never say never"

For anyone who is interested these are the prices from the website in August 2008.  I deliberately recorded them after the debacle of Leno.  It is good to see that the prices had not been changed for the EC, hope that this is the same for the WC.  Although I am a bit worried about the capacity of the actual camping site - the entry below is part of the website which was translated at the same time.

Accomodation -Thermal camping
The camping which is situated within the area of Gyoparos baths is available for guests with places for 30 tents and 8 caravans.  The camping which can hold up to 150 people offers _ _ _ .
The prices of the camping are:
Adult - 1150
Retired, children and student - 850
Tentplace for two - 1000
Caravan/mobile home - 1000
Car - 700
Electricity - 400
Visitor tax - 200
The prices include the Parkbath tickets.

Wooden house camping
Three-bedded 8600
Four-bedded 11500
Five-bedded 14400
Tourist tax 200 per person

Sorry to post twice but I also wanted to make a comment on the planned schedule, the original topic in this forum.

I am a ‘boating widow’ who has to organise functions and events as part of my job.  I often attend boating events and must say that on reading the schedule thought here we go again, these people couldn’t organise a special event in a brewery.

Are they honestly suggesting that V competitors travel many kilometers at great expense only with the possibility that free practice may be squeezed in after the O/H finals and/or on the morning of the first V day.  If this is not possible, V competitors who can only attend the V races are disadvantaged especially as the test lake does not have fresh water and the boat set up is not going to be the same (even I know that).  Attendance at the world championships is expensive.  Days off work to sit and wait seems to be ill thought out and showing a lack of understanding.  Perhaps they are assuming that all competitors compete in both O/H and V?

For some of us who accompany our partners to the world championship this is our annual holiday.  Last year we had the fiasco of the event at Leno (complete with flies, the toilets, the filthy water and the smell).  Next year, I am told, the venue will be better so I do hope that it can be improved even more by sorting out the schedule to ensure that it suits as many competitors as possible and reduces costs for those taking part in only one section.

I was both in Leno (visitor) and in Oroshaza (racing) and Hungary beats Italy BIG time. For all of you who accompany a racer, Hungary will be good. Plenty of cheep restaurants, the food is good and not 'strange' at all. Fresh and clean streets, toilets and what ever.
Even the organizing will, probably, beat Italy. Not that that schould be difficult...
The time schedule taken aside.
